(Washing the Body)
- When beginning to wash the body, it is
wajib to cover its nakedness.
- Then, the washer wraps a cloth around his hand and
performs istinjaa.
- Any najasha (impurities) must be removed.
- It is forbidden to directly touch the nakedness of
one who has reached 7 years of age.
- The Sunnah is not to touch the body at all except
with the cloth.
- A man is allowed to wash his wife or his
right-hand possession.
- and a daughter under the age of 7 (difference of
opinion among the salaf)
- A woman is allowed to wash her husband, her owner
or her son under the age of 7.
- The details of washing the dead in the details of
what is wajib and what is sunnah is the same as washing from
janaba.
- But, water is not put into the nose and mouth
- Rather, a cloth is used to wipe the inside of the
mouth and the nostrils.
- It is makrooh for the washing to be only
once, even if nothing is coming out.
- If anything is coming out, washing is repeated up
to 7 times.
- If anything still comes out after seven, the place
is to be closed off with cotton or failing that, with hot clay and than just
the area washed.
- And then wudhu is made for him, but not
another full washing.
- If something comes out after the wrapping, then
neither the wudhu or the washing are repeated.
