(Washing the Body)

  1. When beginning to wash the body, it is wajib to cover its nakedness.



     
  2. Then, the washer wraps a cloth around his hand and performs istinjaa.



     
  3. Any najasha (impurities) must be removed.



     
  4. It is forbidden to directly touch the nakedness of one who has reached 7 years of age.



     
  5. The Sunnah is not to touch the body at all except with the cloth.



     
  6. A man is allowed to wash his wife or his right-hand possession.



     
  7. and a daughter under the age of 7 (difference of opinion among the salaf)



     
  8. A woman is allowed to wash her husband, her owner or her son under the age of 7.



     
  9. The details of washing the dead in the details of what is wajib and what is sunnah is the same as washing from janaba.



     
  10. But, water is not put into the nose and mouth


     
  11. Rather, a cloth is used to wipe the inside of the mouth and the nostrils.


     
  12. It is makrooh for the washing to be only once, even if nothing is coming out.



     
  13. If anything is coming out, washing is repeated up to 7 times.



     
  14. If anything still comes out after seven, the place is to be closed off with cotton or failing that, with hot clay and than just the area washed.



     
  15. And then wudhu is made for him, but not another full washing.



     
  16. If something comes out after the wrapping, then neither the wudhu or the washing are repeated.
