Living As A Minority
- the Next Stage

Staying in a place where a Muslim should not live is NOT a small or discretionary issue - can lead one to Hell-fire.

  1. Stand and warn.  It is not lawful to be "invisible" ("Mike" who pumps your gas)
  2. Glorify your Lord.  And manifest that in everything you do.
  3. Purify your garments. And your "garments" of taqwa and our "garments" of marriage
  4. Keep impurity (and Allah's punishment) at a distance.
  5. Don't let material gain determine such decisions
  6. Be patient and steadfast for Allah
  7.  Be conscious of that terrible day when everyone who strays from belief will be in serious difficulty

  1. We must be able to prohibit (among ourselves) what Allah has forbidden and to allow what Allah has allowed.
  2. What is the meaning of tahreem and tahleel.

  1. We must form a single cohesive community which holds fast together in pursuit of the above goals and conditions.

We Muslims who imagine ourselves to be a "community" in this country need to examine our reality, our past and our future course. As groups or communities, we came into existence almost entirely for reasons having nothing to do with Islam or the pursuit of an Islamic community. Many of us came from other countries purely for economic and other opportunity.  Later, al-hamdu lillahi, we remembered our deen and spent 40 years building Masajid and Islamic centers.  Others came together in masajid and groups for Islam but for other objectives at the same time having nothing to do with Islam or even diametrically opposed to it such as nationalism.

Most of us still live this duplicitous existence very similar to the relationship of the Christian to his church. We may go to the masjid and participate to an extent in activities with Muslims, but the REALITY of our lives is mostly elsewhere. This has taken a serious toll. Ignorance is widespread. Huge numbers of use are engaged in forbidden and adulterous lives such as Muslim women married to non-Muslim men, Muslim men married to unchaste women and huge amounts of zinaa among young and old.  A very large number of our children bear little or no resemblance to Muslims in their beliefs, their conduct and their culture, even IF they retain the "name" of Muslim - and many don't even do that.
